Phew, it's about time, isn't it?
I know it's been ages since my last journal, and since my last submission too. For the journal I am making up now, new art will hopefully follow by the end of next week. I have two pieces which are almost done, I really just need some hours to finish both off. One of them being a female nude, the other being a matte painting.
So what has happened...since my last journal, I was lucky to see my art be selected for Ballistic Publishing's Exposé 6 and d'artiste Digital Painting 2. The chosen pieces were "Remnants of the Past" and "Day subsiding".
Also I have been really busy with uni, I spent a lot of time working on my final project, and then stopped pretty much everything to work on my thesis. Well, today I got it printed and handed it in, so finally this is over
I did many sketches and drawings meanwhile, though. Usually when I was sitting in a café and typing my thesis. Drawing can be a wonderful break to keep the stress away.
As many of you probably know, the Games Convention is in Leipzig these days. I am holding a short Matte Painting workshop there every day. Today was the first time, and it went pretty well, I think. So if anyone of you is visiting the GC, drop by in hall 2, booth L 41, I will be there at least around noon every day. Would be cool to meet some of you folks!
And now I think it is time for sleep. After only two hours of sleep last night, I hope to sleep deep and sound!
How's everyone doing?
Love you all,
Dancakes
oh, and...
I never liked the batman cartoons. Never saw any of the films.
Tonight I watched The Dark Knight...

Wow, thanks for the feedback! 300k+ views!
Thank you everybody for the super positive feedback on my latest painting, A Royal Affair, and of course @lovelessdevotions for the Daily Deviation. I'm really glad you guys liked it, I know it's been a while since I last submitted something. In that regard, I am curious how you guys found out about that piece. It has a huge amount of views and it seems that a big part of that must have come from outside deviantArt...so if any of you came here that way, please comment, I'd love to know where you saw this! (Or if this is a glitch, please inform me!) Other than that I think I will begin to show studies and maybe sketches, but if you would like to see more of that, I strongly recommend you follow me on my instagram That aside, I hope everybody is okay and well these days? How are you guys dealing with our beloved worldsickness? Let me know! Much love  Daniel Find me on: ArtStation - Instagram - Facebook
300k, Sketchbook, Social Media and general update!
So apparently it has been 8 years since I last posted a journal. Feels like a life time, even moreso on the internet. But since I just hit the 300k pageview mark I thought this
would be a good time to write a brief update. And first of all- thank you! To everybody who is still watching me and following my work, commenting or dropping by to say hello!
While overall activity on deviantArt seems to have gone down a lot and most people seem to have moved to facebook and instagram, I still check my messages here regularly, even if
I don't manage to get back to all of them.
That said, the above mentioned platforms have also become my main outlets
Short update on life, work and stuff
After the previous journal entry had graced my dA profile for like a year and a half, I figured it's about time for a new one. Hopefully though my recent submissions have proved that I am indeed alive. And I can tell you that it feels good to finally have some new pieces up. Since June last year I have been working as a full time concept artist, and that left me pretty much no time for personal stuff. But I am having a great time at the job and I have learned so much and have in fact painted more than ever before. Lately I just got too fed up with having only my rather old pieces up, hence why I made the time for new ones. And I'm definitely
Life / Sketches / Contest
So I thought it's time for a new journal! Not that I have a whole lot of meaningful stuff to say, but I thought I'd let you know that I'm still alive, haha! I have been fairly busy with uni assignments lately, lots of annoying writing and attempting to reach minimum word counts, it really is quite dull. And I am working on a commission as well. But I cannot really complain too much, I am doing well :D
And while I may not have had the time to really do a painting, I've been actively filling pages of my sketchbook with little thumbnail sketches, playing around with different ideas for sceneries and perspectives more, which is heaps of fun. Mos
