Sketch 002 by memod Sketch 002 by memod
Time for some new work. This is a fairly recent drawing that I did. The foreground is actually based on a photo which I took in the beautiful town of Quedlinburg, where you have tons of old buildings like that. But from the mid-ground on I made it up to create a more interesting composition.
The piece was done with ink pens and markers, and then toned digitally.
Hope you guys enjoy, critiques are welcome as usual!

Wow, new work! It's been a while.

I have to tell you, I like your traditional medium artwork almost more than I like your digital art, and that's saying something because I really like everything you've done so far. You have a great talent for shading and textures, which make this image work. There's a chance that if you hadn't done the shadow from the house on the left well, it would have looked a little awkward, but the shading is done perfectly.

The gate in the background is very well done, especially the addition of the half-lowered metal grate. I also particularly like the way that the buildings at the edge aren't quite finished, which just adds to the aesthetic of the piece.

On the whole, there's nothing I can think of that I'd like to see changed here. This is just altogether a wonderful drawing. Well done!
What do you think?

Well, it...is :D As I wrote in the description, the forground is based on a photo which I took in Quedlinburg, a beautiful medieval German town...from miground onwards it is made up, but obviously in a way that fits the style of architecture :D

I'm busy with work. I've been working my fingers to the bone, and now have no computer or internet at work either ¬_¬ When I get home, sometimes all I have the energy for is sleep!
Glad your painting is going well!

I have been better. But my mom did finally wake up out of her coma, sadly it didn't end the line of troubles that I was hoping it would.
Other than that, I've been doing some photography besides work and school.

Hussa, I didn't know that your mom had been in a coma :hmm: I'm glad though, that she woke up from it
What other things trouble you? =(

I have been pretty good most of the time. Making it a point to draw or paint 5+ hours every day, and it just feels good to be productive and to see improvement

My mom was in an accident March 4th 2009. My older brother found her engulfed in flames in her bedroom. She was put in a medically induced coma for a little over eight months. Over 70% of her body had 3rd degree burns. She lost most of her fingers, her ears, and when she woke up she was blind. I have a journal about it on my page currently, because the blind thing is what hit me themost.

But things have been looking up. My boyfriend is out of the hospital, lungs are getting better. The worst things troubling is my damn job lol. But yeah it happens.
Anything troubling you?

That is amazing to be productive! I've recently started doing the 365 project where you take a picture everyday for a year. It does feel good to be productive.

Oh goodness, that's a horrible accident =( I'm sorry to hear about that. That kind of thing makes one quite speechless....I'd like to say something comforting, but with such a situation that would probably just sound like irony :hmm: How are you and your mom dealing with that situation?

And what is with your job?

Phew, I cannot really say that there is much troubling me. I mean, of course there always are troubles and worries and anxiety about what the future might be like with getting a job and all, but...nothing serious really.

A picture a day sounds good to me :D That will also make an interesting photo story at the end of the year

Well over the past year and whatnot, there have been many obstacles, cops, and deaths and what not concerning this. She's just dealing right now. She's depressed, doesn't understand, can't remember some things and sometimes forgets our age. But she was in a medically induced come for a long time so its to be expected.

My job has been trying to fire me for awhile because of my moms sitation my boyfriends and my family problems I'd miss work for emergencies. I also dealt with workman's Comp when I sprained my wrist last summer. Since then they've been treating me like crap, making up lies, changing my attendence, just a lot of crap. I really hate that place lol.

I bet you could find an art job pretty quick. You're very good at what you do and any company should beg for you to work there. Picture day is a lot of fun, especially now that the weather is getting warmer. I never really enjoyed walking around in snow.

Haha no worries, I wouldn't be asking, if it bored me  But it sounds like you will have some time to discover Germany :D I know someone who came to Germany for just the last winter Semester, and she totally ended up loving Berlin so much, she could almost imagine to live there for a longer period of time :D

Aber jep, wenn du gezwungen bist, täglich deutsch zu reden, dann wirst du dich auch sehr schnell verbessern
