Weeeeee, it's done. a new matte painting. haha, this was a lot of fun to do, and as you have read so often from me already, it started out from an exercise piece :slow: I just wanted to do a simple extension of THIS stock photo, but then...kinda went further :giggle:

I hope I succeeded in creating a somewhat mysterious landscape and feeling....it was fun to paint in all this construction in the middle, give the sense of something going on there...here's a bunch of close-ups for you, hope you enjoy them.

A huge thanks goes out to ¢mynti who helped me a lot with her critiques and suggestions, you're quite a darling! :heart:

Anyway, print will be up soon as usual, enjoy everybody, and tell me what you think!

oh and, wish me luck, I want to submit this for exposé!

This practice of yours has gone beyond a practice dancakies :giggle: And I am so proud of you. I am so proud of your meticulous 10-pixel buildings, and your sky. I'm glad you redid the sky. But mostly I have to say I have no more critiques... the critique girl has run out of things to say; the colors could have gone either way but your value scheme here is so romantically dramatic. Probably the first real emotional landscape I've seen from you recently besides Sentinel. And where that creeped an edgy flair, here, you have a comforting, dramatic, warm cushy type colorscheme, but it's being impinged upon by the real world of men. It's modern and current, beautiful and compositionally pleasing. Your matte is a work of art, and so creatively done. Bierstadt's influence comes through, you have here a dramatic, colorful, expressive, yet exquisitely detailed landscape. This seems so quiet and peaceful, even after the rukus of all the digging and goings-on of this place, everyone goes home and the earth reclaims the sky and the eye is drawn to the beauty of the land, and the workings of people hardly can compete with that... I'm really so happy to see this completed, even as you put on some final brush strokes. :heart: I'm going to keep pushing you to do more, Dan. You work here shines. It was worth those long hours :hug: Niffniff.
